For Indian Musicians And Dancers Of Different Age Groups

We are excited to announce Ragamrutha Competitions for Indian musicians and dancers in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced categories across different age groups. Performance is a critical part of arts training, and we are happy to offer a platform for your talent to be recognized by audiences across the world.

There is a new contest every month on a different theme. Entries will be evaluated based on technique, creativity, and other aspects. Winning performances will be showcased on Ragamrutha’s social media channels for the world to see, offering an exciting opportunity to grow and perform!

Participants can submit more than one entry in a particular category by paying the appropriate entry fees, but only one entry per month will be considered for the Leaderboard positions.

We recommend participants upload their videos on YouTube (as unlisted or public) and submit the YouTube links in the Registration Form.

Guidelines and Best Practices

  • Advanced Category Expectations:

Applicants in the Advanced categories are encouraged to showcase advanced techniques of improvisation (Carnatic/Hindustani) or nuances expected at this level. Demonstrating a deep understanding and mastery of the art form will be highly valued.

  • Performance Duration:

The ideal time limit for entries is 3-5 minutes. We will accept entries that are shorter or longer; however, please note that the selection panel may evaluate only parts of longer performances and is not required to watch the entire performance.

  • Unique Entries Each Month:

If you are participating in multiple months, please do NOT repeat your entries. Ragamrutha School of Arts reserves the right to disqualify a repeated performance even if it is of high quality.

  • Authenticity in Performances:

We do not encourage the use of autotune or pitch correction for singers and would prefer that dancers submit continuous and unedited pieces. Our selection panel reserves the right to disqualify entries that appear to be tampered with or artificially enhanced.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Background and Setting:

Please avoid any idols, religious elements, or portraits of deities in the video background. We encourage a neutral and distraction-free setting to maintain a professional presentation.

  • Dress Code:

The entries selected will be showcased on our website and social media channels, so please ensure to wear appropriate and decent attire suitable for a public audience.

Video Shoot Guidelines

No need for professional videos—just use a plain background, bright lighting, and a stable camera. The performer should face the camera directly. Avoid shaky footage.

Eligibility and Categories:

  • Open to dancers and musicians from any genre!
  • You can apply in any category that you feel comfortable.
  • If you need help figuring out which one you belong to, here’s a rough estimate
  • BEGINNER : Less than 3 years of training
  • INTERMEDIATE : 3 to 6 years of training
  • ADVANCED : More than 6 years of training

Competitions Registration

Rules

  1.  For the classical music categories electronic or regular tanpura is mandatory, any other basic accompaniment is not mandatory but you can feel free to have it.
  2. Try to have a plain background. Please do not have any portraits or pictures of Gods, or any other religious symbolism in the videos.
  3. There is no time limit. Please make it as short or as long as you like, and are able to hold audience attention.
  4. You can submit links of previous performances as long as the main applicant is seen/heard clearly.
  5. Each applicant can submit more than one entry if he/she chooses, but maximum one entry per each category is allowed.
